Churchlands Senior High School is seeking to appoint a highly qualified and passionate Gifted and Talented Music teacher with a specialisation in Jazz to join their professional and experienced team.
This is a specialised role seeking an applicant with skills and experience in teaching a specialist Jazz program and directing both junior and senior school Jazz ensembles. In terms of professional practice, we are looking for an applicant with outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills within the music community who is committed to achieving exceptional educational outcomes for our students.
The candidate must have high-level performance skills and be able to arrange repertoire to meet the specific needs of small ensembles. One will also need to demonstrate they can work independently, a willingness to embrace Kodaly teaching techniques, and have a flexible approach to the working day. The successful applicant should demonstrate that they can work collaboratively with peers and within their various teams as part of a professional learning community.
As part of standard practice, the candidate will review the effectiveness of their teaching practices using a variety of methods available within the school. The candidate will provide educational opportunities and activities, which enable students to achieve their highest potential. Also, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to engage students using a range of skills, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices.
It is desirable that the candidate has experience delivering Certificate II & III music courses and holds a Certificate IV in training and assessment.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
