The Business and Customer Services (BCS) Division is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Business Improvement Officer in the Finance Services branch.
As the Business Improvement Officer you will report on BCS processes, and make recommendations of improvements based on research, analysis and evaluation. The successful applicant will develop modified business processes and approve service improvement initiatives for BCS after consulting with system users and stakeholders. The Business Improvement Officer will ensure all policies and processes are documented and maintained in accordance with Departmental and legislative requirements and established benchmarks and performance indicators are monitored.
The successful applicant will possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills in order to establish and develop effective, collaborative working relationships with customers and other stakeholders to ensure a customer-focused service improvement delivery model for BCS staff.
The BCS Directorate supports the objectives and outcomes of clients by providing value for money corporate services through skilled and motivated people. The BCS aims to deliver services within an environment of standardised systems and processes.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Sound experience and knowledge of process improvement principles within an information systems context.
- Sound knowledge of project management, finance policies, procedures and systems.
- Sound ability to develop, deliver and evaluate training programs.
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build positive relationships and to influence, facilitate and negotiate effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
- Sound analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to identify trends and issues and provide innovative solutions to problems.
- Sound planning, organisational and time management skills, including the proven ability to use initiative, prioritise work, meet agreed targets and deliver agreed results in a timely, efficient and customer-focused manner

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
