This is a permanent part-time (0.2FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2020
East Butler Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Technical Officer to join their friendly and collaborative team.
The successful applicant will become a key member of the school’s staff. They will maintain and develop the school’s Information and Technology systems and equipment in accordance with the schools needs and Department of Education guidelines.
The succesful applicant will adopt and promote a collaborative, positive approach to supporting all staff and students to achieve the best possible teaching and learning outcomes that technology can provide. To do this, the successful applicant will possess effective communication skills and problem solving capacity; the ability to provide technical training, advice and support on desktop and software applications to staff and if necessary the students. They will also have the ability to research and identify appropriate software packages and other resources.
The successful applicant should also have a high degree of initiative with the ability to maintain confidentiality and strong organisational skills, including the ability to identify priorities and meet deadlines. The applicant’s skills need to range from supporting teachers with using online applications for Kindy children and monitoring teachers’ usage of technology for children up to Year 6. The applicant will need to be able to support and maintain the schools IT equipment including desktops, laptops, Ipads and interactive whiteboards.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- experience and competency in plant/machinery maintenance and building or construction involving plastics, electronics or electrical applications or a related discipline.
- understanding and application of the Occupational Safety and Health Act requirements relevant to the work area.
- good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
