Kimberley School of the Air (KSOTA) is seeking a dedicated Teacher to provide exemplary teaching and outstanding care that nurtures students to reach their academic and creative potential.
As KSOTA is expecting to run KindiLink in 2020 the successful applicant for the position will be expected to assist the Principal with the development of the programme, and run the session each week on air. As such experience and qualifications in early childhood education will be highly regarded.
As the successful applicant you will demonstrate highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work cooperatively with all others to create a welcoming and vibrant environment for students and families. The school provides a focus on early intervention and differentiated curriculum to meet each student at their point of need is expected. Sound curriculum knowledge and pedagogy that encompasses 'Critical and Creative Thinking' will be considered highly desirable.
The Support Teacher Learning (STL) overseas the data collection process within the school and runs the NAPLAN testing.
The STL assists the teachers with the writing of IEP’s and provides individualised tuition to students who require support.
The STL teacher also provides support to the Home Tutors and will be required to travel and attend camps within the scope of this role.
KSOTA is a member of the Kimberley Schools Project (KSP) and as such, you will be responsible for managing and providing leadership to teaching staff regarding the implementation of KSP strategies. Ongoing professional learning is provided through the KSP, however previous experience with the project would be highly desirable.
Kimberley School of the Air is situated in Derby, approximately 220 kilometres north of Broome. Derby is the gateway to the Kimberley Region with many points of interest nearby. The school caters for the educational needs of isolated children from Kindergarten to Year 6, spread across the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Spanning an area of some 450,000 square kilometres, these children live on remote cattle stations, stations now catering to tourism, small Aboriginal communities or out-stations and smaller rural farming blocks.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
