This is a permanent part-time (0.2FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2020
Waroona District High School (DHS) are looking for a positive, enthusiastic teacher who has a passion for Design and Technology. The successful applicant will need to be innovative and creative thinking outside the square for ways to deliver the Design and Technology curriculum to students of varying ages and developmental levels. The successful applicant will require initiative and be able to establish positive relationships with students, the wider community and other staff. Skills in Metal, Plastic and Wood Technology are highly desirable.
Waroona DHS offers a Kindergarten to Year 10 education to our students. The school is situated in a beautiful garden setting close to the town centre and adjacent to a modern recreation and aquatic centre. We are able to utilise this facility to enhance our curriculum delivery in physical education on a regular basis.
Our school operates a number of specialist programs including Physical Education, Visual Arts, Design and Technology and Home Economics. The school attends Country Week annually and it is a much anticipated experience for our students. We have purpose built Music and Dance Rooms. We are steadily developing our Music and Performing Arts program which we hope will continue to grow substantially in the years to come. This affords our students the opportunity to develop their talents in this area. We operate a thriving Bush Rangers Cadet Program in which every secondary student is involved. This enables the school to provide a well resourced environmental program affording our students the opportunity to build relationships with local environmental groups and industry. These opportunities exist on our doorstop and give our students a distinct advantage over others in the development of environmental skills and knowledge.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
