Appointment Pool
John Curtin College of the Arts is seeking to establish a pool of Student Services Teachers for appointment to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
As Teacher – Student Services you will work as part of a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff who comprise Student Services and will be responsible for the effective leadership of two year groups and play a significant role in the daily support and management of these students. It is envisaged that these roles will attract a full-time workload with the ability to undertake secondary generalist classroom teaching.
In collaboration with the Heads of Student Services, suitable applicants will provide pastoral care in the college and the wider community by developing and promoting programs that promote a sense of belonging, support the college’s priorities and create a positive and inclusive college culture. Student welfare and academic achievement are embedded in all aspects of college life thereby building a culture of high care and high performance.
Suitable applicants will be highly focused and enthusiastic individuals with proven and effective leadership and behaviour management skills and the ability to inspire students, and build and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and colleagues through highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. In this role, you will be the public face of the college and the first point of contact for many parents. Excellent organisational and planning skills will enable you to plan and work independently in implementing programs that support student academic achievement, behaviour management, attendance and health and well-being and assist in maintaining the day to day operations of Student Services as well as for whole college events.
In order to successfully fulfil the role, you will ideally have knowledge of policies and processes relating to student welfare and of school operations and processes; including timetabling, Reporting to Parents, Connect, SIS and SEQTA and the ability to case manage educationally at risk students and students with learning differences. It is desirable that you have understandings of gifted and talented students, in particular in the area of social and emotional development, underachievement/underperformance and twice exceptionality.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
