Canning College is seeking an experienced Business teacher, with appropriate professional qualifications, who is committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for students in its Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and UniDirect programs. Please note that there is the possibility that the FTE for the position could be temporarily increased during the year to cater for additional enrolments, but this would only be done if the successful applicant is in agreement with the change.
To be suitable for this position, the teacher will need to have the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to teach relevant ATAR business subjects and Certificate IV and Diploma of Commerce units. The successful applicant will ideally have recent experience teaching ATAR Year 11 and Year 12 BME and Accounting. It is essential that the applicant has as a minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Commerce, Business, Business Administration, Management or similar field in addition to teaching qualifications. It is recommended that the applicant either holds a Certificate IV TAE or is prepared to obtain one. The ability to teach other subjects, such as Information Technology or Mathematics, is also highly desirable.
The successful applicant will have a passion for secondary education and the desire to impart their innovation, skills and knowledge as a valued member of the UniDirect team. They will need to be self-motivated, able to work effectively as part of a team, prepared to embrace new and demanding challenges, and to work proactively towards the overall development of the College. It is desirable that the applicant has well developed Information Computer Technoloy (ICT) skills and can demonstrate a high awareness of cross cultural issues.
Canning College is an Independent Public School and is the leading provider of international education within the Department of Education. The College enrols approximately 400 international students each year. Canning College provides a unique suite of curriculum, much of it developed in conjunction with the Western Australian universities.
Canning College offers Year 10, Year 11, Year 12, Certificate IV UAP, Diploma of Commerce, and Bridging preparation courses leading to Year 11 and 12 programs. The College has intakes of students four times a year.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
