Wanananami Remote Community School (RCS) is looking for a Primary Teacher. The successful applicant will be highly professional and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. They will pursue excellence in classroom teaching and provide encouragement and support to their colleagues. They will foster and encourage connections to local Aboriginal Culture, and make student academic achievement the core of their work. To be successful in this position you will be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Additionally, you will have knowledge and experience of explicit teaching, the ability to work effectively as part of a team and a commitment to working with parents and the wider community. Knowledge of whole school programs Let’s Decode, Spelling Mastery and PR1ME Mathematics would be advantageous.
Wananami Remote RCS is located on Mount Barnett Station in the spectacular Kimberley Region of Western Australia, approximately 500kms north of Broome. While Wananami is situated in the community of Kupungarri/Mount Barnett, it services three communities: Imintji, Kupungarri and Dodnun, all found along the iconic Gibb River Road. Students travel from Imintji and Dodnun by bus for up to an hour each way to and from school.
Our classes are structured as multi-age groups with the Junior Class devoted to Kindergarten to year 1, the Middle Class dedicated to Years 2 - 3 and the Senior Class focusing on Years 4 - 6. The dedicated staff consists of a Principal, 3 teachers, a Manager for Corporate Services and a number of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal support staff, including a part time gardener and cleaner.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
