Kewdale Primary School (PS) is seeking a Teacher – Learning Support Coordinator (LSC). The role of the Learning Support Coordinator is to provide support for students with special needs and to assist staff who are teaching students with special needs. Kewdale Primary School is a vibrant, well organised school with a dedicated, team oriented staff. Our school motto "Strive and Succeed" reflects the values staff model to students, as well as our expectation of students. As Kewdale's demographic has changed, the need for the Teacher - Learning Support Coordinator role has increased. The Teacher - Learning Support Coordinator role is quite complex.
The successful applicant will be a confident, well organised person capable of demonstrating leadership in this area. A high level of interpersonal and public relations skills is essential as the job entails liaising with staff, parents, the school psychologist and various agencies to achieve appropriate outcomes for our students in need. This is a very rewarding position as the role has a positive impact on students and their families. There will be the opportunity for a detailed handover with the current LSC which will need to occur before the end of this year and this is really essential to best prepare the successful applicant for the position.
Kewdale PS was opened in 1915 and recently celebrated its 100 anniversary. It is situated in a very pleasant part of Kewdale, on Kew Street and on the south side of Belmont Avenue. The school has maintained a steady growth over the years and the current enrolment of 320 students from many different ethnic backgrounds.
Kewdale PS is a well organised and well equipped school. Currently the school has 13 full time classrooms ranging from Pre-primary to year 6 and a full time Kindergarten centre. In addition to these rooms the school operates a Sensory Room, a well-resourced library, a computer lab, a music room, a purpose built science room, a canteen and a covered assembly area. All rooms are air conditioned, well maintained and freshly painted.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
