Applecross Senior High School is seeking to appoint a passionate and innovative Teacher of Home Economics who is responsive to change and can cater for the learning styles of future ready students.
To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be relationship focussed, able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning. You will be innovative, knowledgeable and understand instructional curriculum whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Technologies Learning Area. Ideally, you will also be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment.
The successful applicant is required to teach both Certificate and General courses in Senior School. Specifically, you will be required to teach the Certificate II in Hospitality and a TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are considered essential for this role. You will also be required to teach lower school Food, Textiles and Childcare classes.
To empower students, the applicant would be committed to explicit teaching, and would manage their classroom in a consistent and transparent style, to maintain a safe, supported, inclusive classroom environment, which provides for the ‘whole child’. The successful applicant will be one who attempts to engage all students in learning, through a differentiated program delivery that accounts for variance in learning styles, individual needs and academic levels. You would integrate Information and Communication Technology to enhance learning and a demonstrated use of an online platform such as Connect is also highly desirable, as well as generally creating opportunities to pursue innovation.

Applecross SHS which is situated approximately 8 kilometres south of the city of Perth, embraces a tradition of excellence and maintains a reputation for high academic, sporting and cultural achievements for secondary students in Years 7 to 12. The school offers programs in Visual Arts (Gifted and Talented) and elite Tennis (Specialist Program) plus Academic Extension programs. The Academic Extension Program provides special classes for students who have been selected on the basis of their performance. Students in the Program are offered a wide range of rich learning experiences and are required to complete more in-depth studies to develop high level skills and competencies to become independent learners.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
