Appointment Pool
Do you have a passion for teaching?
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
The staff at Tom Price Primary School (PS) are motivated and professional. They have formed a collegiate group which collaborates well and responds effectively to student and community needs. The school adopts a ‘whole of staff approach’ and sees all staff involved in school planning, school activities and professional development.
Suitable applicants will implement whole school programs such as Letters and Sounds, Talk for Writing, Cooperative Learning, Stepping Stones, Positive Behaviour in Schools, Mindfulness, Cracking the Code, Words Grammar and Fun and Integration of Technology into all learning areas along with a commitment to embedding the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework across all of the school. Applicants will be collaborative teachers creating a respectful and positive working environment and will build strong links to the community. You will be resilient, organised and able to manage change positively while being committed to giving every student the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. The school will be implementing Hollingsworth and Ybarra's Explicit Direct Instruction model in 2020.
Tom Price PS is situated in the Pilbara Education Region some 1,500 kilometres north of Perth. It is one of two primary schools located in Tom Price. The school was opened in 1967, on its present location, to service the children of workers in the local iron ore mine.
Tom Price PS has a teaching staff of approximately 16 teachers (ranging from full time to one day per week). The school is provided with the services of a school psychologist and nurse for one day a week. The school has a support staff of 11 people with positions including manager corporate services, school officer, Aboriginal and Islander education officer, education assistants, cleaners and gardeners. These people contribute significantly to student learning and achievement.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
