Merredin College is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join the school community in the role of Teacher – Design and Technology – Woodwork.
As the successful applicant, you will have the ability to work collaboratively with others, engage positively with students and strive to meet their different learning needs. You will have knowledge, and preferably experience in the Western Australian Design and Technology curriculum to effectively design and deliver learning programs in an engaging way to students in Years 7 to 12.
Located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt, Merredin College is a lighthouse rural school providing a high quality, seamless educational program for approximately 600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Our rigorous yet supportive teaching programs encourage students to become independent learners. This begins in Kindergarten and is developed through to Year 12. Literacy and Numeracy are priorities with programs in place to support the needs of all students. ICT is embedded to ensure students learn in a contemporary environment and leave our school with the skills required to function well in the 21st Century.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
