The Southwest Education Regional Office is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join their team in the role of Regional Attendance Coordinator based at North Albany Senior High School.
The successful applicant will provide support to Southwest Education Regional Office staff to develop and implement regional processes and strategies to promote and improve retention, participation and engagement through improved attendance of students. The position will also respond to enquiries from schools, community members and parents concerning attendance and exemption issues.
The successful applicant will research and identify emerging trends, monitor and support schools with school attendance resources, strategies, issues and procedures and provide solutions to identified issues. Case management work will form part of regular duties within this position and involve schools, parent, students and community-based support agencies.
The Southwest Education Regional Office is one of eight regional offices located across the State. Regional offices and local education offices are staffed as determined by the Regional Executive Director, in accordance with local context and needs. All officers appointed to regional offices and local education offices are responsible for supporting schools in the regions by promoting system initiatives and providing support and quality assurance to enhance the outcomes of schooling.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Sound knowledge of current trends and issues in education relating to the student service provision for alienated and non-attending students.
- High-level research, analytical and conceptual skills and an ability to plan and coordinate a variety of processes and programs.
- High-level written communication skills with the ability to prepare documentation for a range of specific purposes and audiences.
- Highly developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to mediate, resolve conflict and work as a collaborative team member.
- Skills in providing strategic leadership in the provision of support for alienated and non-attending students.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
