Weld Square Primary School (PS) is seeking an experienced Teacher - Languages Other Than English (LOTE) - Mandarin committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. You will work as part of a dedicated team and have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to our school community.

The successful applicant may be required to provide DOTT in areas other than Mandarin according to the school's needs and with negotiation.
For many of the schools’ population of 140 students, English is their second language. These children come from many different countries including The Phillipines, Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Nepal, Serbia, Romania, Japan, Pakistan, India, Macedonia, Syria and Italy. Many of Weld Square Primary School's current students' parents received their primary education at Weld Square Primary School.
The School's motto, 'Loyalty, Friendship, Respect and Excellence' is reflected in the curriculum offered and values the development of the whole child. Our learning programs are designed to cater for the learning styles, talents and needs of our students. In addition to the basic curriculum, special programs are provided in Music, Health and Physical Education and Mandarin. The Virtues Program underpins all pastoral care programs including behaviour management, student leadership and peer mediation programs. The School has an active Chaplaincy program available to all members of our school community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
