Balcatta Senior High School (SHS) is looking for an experienced Teacher of English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD), committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. This role is for an outstanding and enthusiastic EALD teacher, to join our English Department.
The successful applicant will possess recent and necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to teach EALD to both lower and senior school students. They should be dedicated, innovative and inspirational educator with a real passion for EALD education. They will have the capacity to plan and implement high quality lessons that engage students.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally be able to exhibit the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Teaching excellence in Australian Curriculum, with in depth understanding of the current Western Australian EALD syllabuses for lower and senior secondary school
- Have a sound working knowledge of the EALD progress maps
- Use of data to assist with planning
- Knowledge of School Curriculum and Standards Authority administrative requirements for EALD students (eligibility, funding and associated processes).

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
