We are seeking a passionate, dedicated enthusiastic Technical Officer Agriculture - Equine who is looking for a rewarding change.
WA College of Agriculture – Narrogin (WACOA) is seeking a dedicated applicant who is passionate about working with young adults in an agricultural education environment.
The successful applicant will have the ability to work as part of a team and with secondary students, years 10 to 12. This position requires someone who is passionate about horses and the equine industry in an agricultural context, providing direct instruction to small groups of young adults.
The successful applicant will oversee the day to day management of the school’s equine section which is composed of around 12 horses plus a variety of infrastructure. Small groups of students are rostered to the equine section and they are instructed by the Technical Officer equine in horse husbandry and care, riding and infrastructure maintenance.
Applicants will be required to gain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment within two years of commencement. The successful applicant will work in a unique agricultural educational farm which specialises in mixed farming with cropping, commercial and stud sheep, and cattle enterprises providing a quality education for students. Applicants will need to have competence in the care and welfare of horses, tack and infrastructure plus horse riding. Applicants must hold a C class licence; a HR licence would be desirable but not essential.
The WA College of Agriculture - Narrogin is the oldest agricultural college in Western Australia. The College consistently delivers quality education and training to young men and women who wish to undertake their senior secondary schooling in an agricultural or trade context. Located 10kms west of the regional town of Narrogin, the College is a day and boarding school that offers specialist secondary education for Year 10 - 12 students in a supportive rural community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.
Applicants may be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.
Level 2, $61,172 - $66,256 per annum (PSGO CSA GA 2017)
Level 3, $69,896 - $75,717 per annum (PSGO CSA GA 2017)

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- hold or obtain the TAESS00003 Enterprise Trainer and Assessor Skill Set within four months of commencing employment;
- hold or obtain the TAE 40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or relevant higher qualification within twelve months of commencing employment if delivering training recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current C class vehicle driver’s licence; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
