Lynwood Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated and experienced school leader committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for all students in this highly multi-cultural school. The Program Coordinator of Curriculum & Instruction: English will possess exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills and sound curriculum knowledge, enabling them to successfully lead a team of experienced teachers in developing and implementing a fine-grained Scope & Sequence for English across the school. In parallel they will lead the implementation of new pedagogy in the English learning area, reflecting a school-wide approach to teaching and learning.
The Program Coordinator of Curriculum & Instruction: English, should present a love of learning and possess a growth mind-set evident in their interaction with staff, students, parents and other stake-holders, and in their application of strategies and interventions to reinforce positive behaviour and engagement of students. Student Wellbeing is a school priority and will underpin the work of the Program Coordinator, in implementing relevant strategies such as managing student behaviour and maintaining regular student attendance.
Developing strong and productive working relationships with leaders, teachers, students and other stake-holders will be key in strengthening school performance, and developing and sustaining a culture of trust and collaboration. The school is implementing a number of teaching and learning initiatives informed by Lynwood’s involvement in the Fogarty EdVance Program and is continuing to roll-out Explicit Instruction across the school. Ideally you will be able to exhibit the capacity to support the school’s major teaching and learning strategy, working in partnership with other school leaders to develop staff capacity and implement the school’s Instructional Framework, which includes Explicit Instruction. You will also be able to illustrate the capacity to implement instructional coaching as part of a school-wide strategy.
This position requires someone with a deep knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment and reporting who can continue to work collaboratively to progress the whole school literacy plan and develop other initiatives to improve literacy in the whole school environment. The ability to effectively use data to inform decision making should underpin their successful practice.

Lynwood SHS became an Independent Public School in 2012 and won the WA Education Awards Secondary School of the Year in 2018 after being a finalist in 2015. We are in our third year of the Fogarty EdVance Program and will be continuing as an Alumni school from 2020. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
