This is a permanent part-time (0.25FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2019
Illawarra Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic, hard working, honest and reliable cleaner to join their team.
As a Cleaner at Illawarra PS, you would carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting and rubbish removal. In addition to this, you would also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning, removal of cobwebs, other general cleaning duties as required by the School.
Illawarra PS opened in 1981 and is an Independent Public School. The school is set in attractive shady grounds with excellent recreation and sporting facilities. The school is a focal point of the community and is adjacent to recreation and parkland areas. The school experiences a low turnover of staff and prides itself on its customer focus and its friendly and supportive ethos. The school is a Level 5 school, catering for Kindergarten to year 6. Enrolment currently stands at 376 students, 42% of whom come from outside the school's boundaries. The school has 29 nationalities, 27% of children being of Languages Other Than English backgrounds and with a 6% Aboriginal population.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process
