Canning Vale College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic person to join their friendly team as Program Coordinator – Student Engagement and Support. This person will work with the Associate Principal and other members of the Student Engagement and Support team to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment within the College.
The key role of Student Engagement and Support is to identify and reduce the impact that barriers have on a student’s ability to engage in meaningful education at Canning Vale College. The key focus of the role is to work collaboratively as part of the Student Engagement and Support Leadership team to ensure that students are supported in their learning through a tiered model of service delivery.
The role Student Support Manager requires a flexible, innovative, solution focused thinker who is able to use a highly developed interpersonal skills set with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to identify and plan to build capacity in areas of identified deficit in a student’s Emotional, Behavioural and Cognitive Engagement at School. The role requires a visible leader who is able to build capacity in others to understand the reasons for and required strategies to support change in student behaviour. There is a focus on role modelling and leading the team in effective and timely communication with staff and parents. Ability to build rapport and relationships with students is an essential component of this process.
Knowledge of Tiers of Intervention, Engagement Theories, Restorative Justice, Stress Model of Crisis, CMiS and Functional Behavioural Analysis are desirable. This role may include a teaching component dependant on college need.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
