Eastern Goldfields College is seeking an experienced administrator who will work closely with the Principal and members of the administration team to provide outstanding educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision.
The successful applicant will bring to the role, a strong sense of passion and motivation to the Vocational Education and Training area, the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with Registered Training Organizations and to skills necessary to further the implementation of Certificate Offerings to all Senior Schooling Students. A key component of this role will be the research and development of the School Based Certificate offerings and development of a strategic plan for certificate offerings for 2020 and beyond.
The VET Coordinator will oversee the delivery, assessment and reporting of the training packages offered at Eastern Goldfields College and partner RTOs. Experience and understanding of compliancy requirements across all aspects of VET is highly desirable. You will take on a key leadership role within the community in promoting, establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers and in promoting Work Place Learning. The VET Coordinator will work with students, teachers, parents, the wider school community and a range of Registered Training Organisations to plan, develop and implement a successful VET program that is innovative, meets students’ needs and those of local industry. The successful applicant will be required to work closely with our Work Place Learning Coordinator to forge links with local businesses, industry and RTOs including Central Regional TAFE in order to source learning opportunities for students.
A key component of this role will be the academic tracking of all VET students to ensure that they are WACE eligible. In conjunction with other members of the leadership team, the VET Coordinator will collaborate with the Student Services Team to provide support to students at Education Risk and further the implementation of the College’s OLNA Strategic Plan within VET.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
