The Business and Customer Services Directorate is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Customer Services Officer in the Business Capability branch.
The Customer Services Officer provides clerical and administrative support to the branch in an effective and efficient manner and undertakes payment of accounts, credit card reconciliation and purchasing requirements, and maintains financial data. The Customer Services Officer supports capability building initiatives through maintaining the professional learning enrolment system, organising workshops, preparing workshop material and coordinating catering for professional learning programs. The position also assists with travel arrangements, including preparing travel documents and booking flights and accommodation.
The position contributes to a work environment that is safe, fosters equity and diversity, enables the achievement of personal and organisational goals and facilitates accomplishment of designated roles and deliverables and contributes to change management projects relevant to the work group.
The successful applicant will maintain a focus on customer service delivery and continuous improvement of services and develop and maintain effective communication links and working relationships to ensure access to diverse specialist knowledge.
The Business Capability branch supports the objectives and outcomes of clients by providing value for money corporate services through streamlined business systems and processes and skilled and motivated people.
The branch leads and advises on operation direction and systemic improvement initiatives and outcomes, to continually improve customer service delivery.
The branch is responsible for initiating, managing and coordinating programs to enhance the capability and capacity of principals, manager’s corporate services, school corporate services staff and central services staff across the Department.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in customer services and administrative duties.
- Experience in purchasing, processing accounts for payment and monitoring expenditure for a work unit.
- Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Sound computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing and experience using an electronic records management system.
- Good organisational skills, including the ability to use initiative and work independently or as part of a team.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy; and
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
