Merredin College, an independent public school, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic educator to join the Science team.
The successful applicant will have a sound understanding of the Year 7-10 WA Science Curriculum with an ability to successfully teach all year levels. The successful applicant will be committed to setting and achieving targeted student outcomes and will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning is essential as is the proven capacity to relate well to students.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all members of the school and wider community to foster positive and respectful working relationships. There is an expectation that all staff employed by the school will have a focus on pastoral care and student well-being. Staff will engage with parents to support student learning and ensure there are no surprises about student progress.
As a member of the Science team you will work in a collegiate and collaborative manner to plan and implement teaching and learning programs. Our teachers support one another, set high expectations and are committed to ensuring that students achieve at their potential. The successful applicant will be reflective about the success of his/her teaching practice and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment. Located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt, Merredin College provides a high quality, seamless educational program for 600 students from Kindergarten - Year 12. Merredin College is unique because our students can remain in the community in which they were born and at the same school for their entire education. Our staff and our families can be true partners in the entire schooling process.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
