Shenton College is seeking a motivated and energetic Library Officer to join their friendly and enthusiastic team.
The suitable applicant will need to be highly organised, energetic and possess the qualities to promote excellence within our school including in the application of customer service principles and practices. The suitable applicant will need to possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner whilst being flexible to meet the needs of the school, be open to change and willing to develop and implement new and innovative ideas.
The successful applicant will maintain and create a supportive learning and teaching environment for students and ensure library records are up-to-date and resources are maintained and processed so they are accessible and available to students and staff. The successful applicant will be able to work independently unsupervised, yet be able to work collaboratively within a unique team environment. They will also be responsible for preparing and monitoring the library budget and to make recommendations for new library resources. Knowledge of the following software and applications is most desirable: Oliver; Compass; Library guides; ClickView; Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop; Canvass; and G suite.
The suitable applicant will be working with our dedicated staff to build and foster a positive school community. You will be creating a positive and engaging environment whilst enhancing our current library facilities. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practice.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
- Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spread sheets and word processing.
- Experience in providing administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
