Appointment Pool
The North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC) is seeking to establish a pool of exemplary Early Childhood Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 and 2020 school years. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements up to the end of Term 4, 2020.
Our Vision: To be an informed, dynamic and influential school that builds the foundations of language and communication for lifetime success.
NEMLDC supports the individual learning and social needs of students who have been identified as having Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Our specialised, evidenced-based, early intervention language programs are planned in collaboration with teachers, speech pathologists and education assistants and are shared with parents. In addition to this individualised specialist language program, students participate in and develop the relevant skills and knowledge associated with all aspects of the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework.
Suitable applicants will work within a collaborative team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and possess a strong evidence-based approach to teaching. As an experienced Early Childhood Education Teacher, you will provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging and differentiated to cater for the specific needs of all students with language learning difficulties. In addition, you will have a good understanding of and be able to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
The suitable applicants will be provided intensive, specific training and induction to develop their skills and understanding of DLD and how to best support the needs of the students. They will be provided ongoing support and learning through allocated coaches, performance development, collaboration and professional learning communities.
To be suitable for this pool you will be flexible, energetic and prepared to engage in partnerships with teacher colleagues, speech pathologists, parents and other agencies. You will also be able to apply current evidence-based research to classroom practice. Previous participation in Language Development Centre training is desirable and the delivery of whole school programs using explicit teaching is an expectation.
Suitable applicants will be provided with the necessary professional learning to enable them to deliver our whole school programs. We are seeking experienced teachers with strong classroom and positive behaviour support skills to successfully engage students and facilitate their learning. You will also use innovative technologies to enhance student learning. Applicants are encouraged to provide examples that demonstrate knowledge of oral and written literacy teaching and learning in their applications.
NEMLDC has close to 300 students and operates over two campuses which are co-located with West Morley and North Balga Primary Schools. Classes are small in size and supported by a range of staff. Teachers are appointed to the school and are required to work at either site, or across sites. Applicants will be required to support the school environment, through the maintenance of a school culture that values effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider school community. Collaboration and working within professional learning communities is prioritised, and staff are encouraged to support the school through leadership roles.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.
