Yanchep Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Senior Gardener - Handyperson to join its dedicated team of school support staff.
In this role you will be responsible for the maintenance of our school grounds and will perform minor repairs and maintenance in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines. Suitable applicants will be responsible for ensuring that tools and all horticultural equipment are maintained in a serviceable condition, formal and informal sports areas are marked, as required, and maintained. In addition to the above, as the Senior Gardener-Handyperson you will be required to maintain accurate gardening records and to provide advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services on school ground maintenance. We are seeking someone with good interpersonal and communication skills who can work as part of a team as well as independently.
Yanchep Secondary College (SC) opened in January 2018 in a state of the art facility. The school is set in well-manicured grounds. The initial population incorporated years 7-11 and the school welcomed year 12 students in 2019. Stage 2 build has commenced. Our focus on the whole student ensures that our school, staff and community works together to develop young adults who engage meaningfully with their local community, are prepared for the challenges of working in the 21st century, and help to make Yanchep a great place to live. This will be achieved through a student centred approach in the teaching and learning, a comprehensive range of student support services, and a focus on students volunteering and engaging within the school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
