Appointment Pool
John Curtin College of the Arts are seeking to establish a pool of outstanding teachers of Media Arts for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
Please note this pool is not for Visual Arts positions.
The college is looking for highly competent, dedicated, creative and experienced teachers to teach gifted and talented media arts programs, Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Media Production and Analysis and Vocational Education and Training (VET) Media and Design Photography courses.
Suitable applicants will need to demonstrate the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school curriculum and have proven success working with very able students in Years 7 to 12. Demonstrated understanding and/or experience teaching gifted and talented students is desirable. You will also participate in a team approach to after hour’s extension and enrichment activities.
Applicants considered suitable will support the implementation of the college business plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole college approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence based approach to teaching. Adopting inclusive practices, differentiating the curriculum, and building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. As Western Australia’s only Selective Arts College, John Curtin College of the Arts caters for over 1700 students from across the State offering gifted and talented courses in media arts, dance (ballet and contemporary), drama, music, music theatre and visual arts. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
