Kalbarri District High School (DHS) are seeking to appoint a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic Deputy Principal to join our friendly team.
The successful applicant will be involved in the coordination of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Careers program, Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) along with the management of secondary behaviour and attendance. You will be the TAFE contact and coordinator, and ideally have proven history in supporting distributed leadership across the school. The successful applicant will ideally be dynamic, adaptable and have district high school experience with preferred Information and Communication Technology (ICT) troubleshooting experience and Positive Behaviour School (PBS) tier 1 and 2 background. It is highly advantageous for applicants to be health and wellbeing focused, have timetabling and student services experience and Schools Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCASA) knowledge and requirements. Having reporting to parents experience with Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA)/Online National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) experience along with a bus license is highly regarded.
Kalbarri is a beautiful tourist town with under 200 students. Kalbarri DHS is located in the coastal town of Kalbarri, 600 kilometres north of Perth. Kalbarri is surrounded by National Park which gives us a unique opportunity to utilise our natural environment in our curriculum. The school nurtures children in Kindergarten through to young adults in Year 12.
Kalbarri has a stable, experienced, high quality staff, who provide a safe and caring class environment for your children whilst presenting a comprehensive and challenging curriculum. Your children have access to computers and iPads enabling them to develop independent learning, research, presentation and coding skills. Specialist teachers provide Indonesian and Physical Education and upper primary children visit the Secondary Science Laboratory for their Science lessons.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs);
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
