Lake Gwelup Primary School (PS) is seeking an exemplary Primary Science Teacher to join their team.
The school motto of ‘Integrity and Excellence’ underpins all aspects of the culture of Lake Gwelup PS.
The successful applicant will be innovative and passionate about Science, demonstrating a strong knowledge of all key elements of the Western Australian Science Curriculum. This opportunity is to create a well-balanced Science program where students are excited by Science through hands on learning and are supported through whole school activities such as; Science Week, sustainability/recycling groups and Science incursions. Historically, Lake Gwelup PS has been at the forefront of many sustainable initiatives and as a result is considered a lighthouse school for the City of Stirling ‘Living Green’ project. Our vision is to maximise all opportunities provided by this Project, and others, and to build on existing initiatives.
We aim to embed sustainability projects and develop a whole school approach to sustainability. By implementing student driven projects, we endeavour to amplify student voice and empower students to drive environmental change.
The successful applicant will further develop and maintain established partnerships/ programs including; City of Stirling programs (Living Green Pilot Project and Your Move), Waste Wise, Millennium Kids, TerraCycle, Water Corporation Water Wise Schools, Kiva: Loans that change lives, eWaste recycle computers, Mindarie Regional Council, Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise, RSPCA and Wonderful Worm Waste.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
