Belridge Secondary Education Support Centre (SESC) is seeking to establish a pool of Secondary Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
Belridge SESC is a Secondary Education Support Centre that focuses on achieving the best outcome for each individual student with emphasis on Individual Education Planning linked to the Australian Curriculum, ASDAN and Accredited Senior School courses and programs. In 2020 Belridge SESC expects to continue to cater for in excess of 115 secondary aged students from Years 7 to 12.
The ultimate goal for all students is to become life-long learners through the provision of the highest quality educational opportunities and they are encouraged to achieve to the very best of their individual abilities. Successful independent living, career development and transition from school to work or alternative pathways beyond school are the desired outcomes for all students.
Students are provided with programs in an educationally enhancing and stimulating environment. Middle school secondary school students participate in a range of educational programs to enhance their social, emotional and academic growth and well-being. For our senior school cohort, a significant proportion of learning takes place in the local and wider community. All senior school students participate in work experience type programs with enterprise and vocational education being the lynchpin that drives the upper school curriculum to best prepare our students for life beyond school.
Suitable applicants will have effective classroom management skills to enhance student wellbeing and personal responsibility, they will be flexible and have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and demonstrate a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning. The Education Support Teacher will have care and consideration for special educational needs students and demonstrate highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
To be suitable you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge about a range of disabilities and associated strategies, will be committed to excellence in teaching and have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills. Teachers in an education support environment are also expected to positively manage a team of education assistants within their classroom.
There is a strong commitment by staff at Belridge SESC to working as part of a team and accepting leadership roles and responsibilities beyond their classroom. All staff are expected to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers and other staff. At Belridge SESC we are committed to maximising the educational achievement of all students, promoting acceptance and tolerance of individual differences in self and others, and encouraging open and positive communication with all stakeholders. Students are consistently given clear guidelines for appropriate behaviour at school and behaviour management strategies are implemented in a positive, rational and professional manner in collaboration with parents. Staff are encouraged to attend relevant, ongoing professional development sessions and to take an active part in decision making at the Centre.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
