Do you have what it takes to improve the learning outcomes of students with disabilities?
South Ballajura Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of Teacher – Education Support for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
Suitable applicants will be highly motivated; student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences, integrating current digital technologies. Suitable applicants will have expertise in planning and delivering individual student and evidence based programs to ensure Individual Education Plan (IEP) objectives are achieved, as well as advanced skills in developing and implementing effective behaviour support plans and strategies for students with a diverse range of co-morbid disabilities, complex communication needs and challenging behaviours. Knowledge and experience in school priority areas of contemporary Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), “You Can Do It” and Team-Teach are highly regarded.
Ability and experience in managing stressful situations and liaising with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of the students is a high priority. Suitable applicants will have the interpersonal team and communication skills to effectively lead a team of Education Assistants working in support roles. Suitable applicants will have capacity to work effectively with students, teachers and the campus and wider community to ensure rigour, resilience and pride, allowing students to achieve to their full potential and flourish.
South Ballajura ESC is a purpose built facility, co-located within South Ballajura Primary School (PS), at the southern end of the suburb of Ballajura. As a central Department of Education resource for students with Intellectual Disability and Autism, student intake reaches beyond Ballajura to neighbouring suburbs. Since opening in 1994, the South Ballajura ESC has increased enrolments. Currently there are 6 classes, of up to approximately 10 students in K to Year 6.
South Ballajura ESC and South Ballajura PS are committed to providing quality inclusive educational opportunities and a caring and supportive campus community. The mulit-modal Integration model enables staff to collaboratively plan quality learning experiences that meet the needs of and benefit, all students.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
