Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a suitably experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic Library Assistant to join their team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of reference information and associated services of the school library to support the learning outcomes of students. This will include supporting and assisting with information needs using the Internet, e-resources and troubleshooting with technical problems at various points. The Library Assistant will administer library systems, ensuring library records are up-to-date and library resources are maintained and processed so they are accessible and available to students and staff at all times. They will attend to enquiries and guide students and staff in locating library resources and information.
The Library Assistant will be responsible for booking and setting up equipment and supervising students as required. They will prepare and monitor the budget for the library and be responsible for monitoring library purchases. Knowledge of Oliver V 5 software is highly desirable.

Harrisdale SHS offers a wonderful opportunity for local students to access a high-quality secondary education close to home. Currently, the school has an enrolment of around 880 students in Years 7, 8, and 9. Thereafter, another year group will enrol annually until 2022, when the “Year 7 Class of 2017” graduate as Year 12 students.
Harrisdale is a rapidly growing suburb located approximately 28 kilometres south of Pert CBD. The school is located on Laverton Crescent, adjacent to the City of Armadale’s new playing fields and sports pavilion and Harrisdale Primary School.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
- Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Ability to provide administrative support and organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
