The successful applicant will have skills and knowledge in the following - research based teaching approaches, First Steps literacy and numeracy, The Early Years Learning Framework, Teaching for Growth, National Quality Standards, High Impact Pedagogy, Growth Mindsets, Instructional Intelligence (Classroom Management and Instructional Strategies), Western Australian Curriculum, Digital Technologies, STEM (Science and Technology, Engineering and Maths), Play based learning (including nature play), Three tired Intervention approach – learning, attendance and behaviour.
Ocean Road PS caters for over 670 students from broad ranging socio-economic backgrounds. We are committed to developing an environment where all children develop the skill and the will to access and apply knowledge enabling them to become effective citizens in our ever changing world.
Our educators implement a whole school approach to research and evidence based strategies with a focus on developing the whole child. This includes English, growth mindset, STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering and maths, students' mental health and well-being. Our specialist programs include science, physical education, Japanese, visual and performing arts. We are committed to catering for all of the students' needs, including the specific needs of our students at educational risk and those requiring academic extension.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
