This is a permanent part-time (0.5FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2019
The Public Schools Planning Division is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Administration and Finance Officer in the Broome Residential College branch.
The Administration and Finance Officer will provide administrative, financial and reporting support to the College Manager and contribute to the smooth running of the college. whilst communicating effectively with staff, students, parents and the remote community in relation to college students, services and fees, and promote a positive image of the college. The successful applicant will maintain college databases, information and record systems, including student registration and enrolment records whilst provide statistical reports and returns to the college, central office, state and commonwealth agencies, as required and maintain and provide data relating to Equal Employment Opportunity and FTE reporting for central office.
A main focus of this role will be to arrange student travel to and from their home communities throughout the year. This involves liaising with external agencies such as the Department of Human Services and ABSTUDY Travel, as well as students and their families across the Kimberley. Many of our families live very remote and this brings with a range of communication challenges. Knowledge of where these communities are situated and relationships with key stakeholders in these communities would be extremely beneficial.
The Administration and Finance Officer may be asked to maintain and operate the college accounting system, including assets and student accounts in accordance with Departmental policy whilst undertaking daily collection, receipting and banking of money, prepare accounts and present accounts for approval and produce financial statements and reports, as directed.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Well developed interpersonal and customer-service skills.
- Financial management knowledge and skills.
- Office management and organisational skills, including knowledge of administrative procedures and record keeping.
- Ability to understand and apply Acts, Awards, Agreements, Standards and policies relating to industrial relations and human resources.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Good word processing skills

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
