We are seeking talented and passionate teachers to inspire curiosity and a desire to learn
Governor Stirling Senior High School (GSSHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and experienced Science Teachers able to teach to Year 12 ATAR level in the Biology or Physical Sciences for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
Suitable applicants will be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment. They will demonstrate an engaging and energetic teaching style and be proficient at developing resources that meet the educational needs of our students. Applicants will also demonstrate a high level of knowledge of how to teach and assess the WA Science Curriculum and the ability to maintain good communication with parents to keep them informed of the progress of their child.
To be suitable, you will reflect and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practice using a variety of methods, and promote an environment of active and positive learning. You will differentiate curriculum to meet the learning needs of your students and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, and a willingness to adopt a ‘restorative’ approach, you will work with students, teachers and the community to instil our school values of Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, Tolerance and Personal Excellence, allowing students to achieve their full potential.

GSSHS, situated on the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge, caters for students of varying abilities, and offers the Department of Education Gifted and Talented Academic Program, a range of academic and Vocational Education Training (VET) programs and Approved Specialist Programs in Engineering, Arts Media and AFL Football. Governor Stirling SHS prepares students for life after high school with many options for academic and vocational pathways.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
