The successful applicant for this position will be an enthusiastic and passionate teacher of Health and Physical Education who can inspire students, strives for excellence and is proactive in improving student outcomes. The successful applicant will have strong teaching and classroom management skills, and can develop effective relationships with all students and engage them in effective learning. The successful applicant will have a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students at all phases of the WA Curriculum and be skilled in differentiating the curriculum to meet the academic needs of all learners in Health and Physical Education.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment. In addition, you will be able to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.
The successful applicant will be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated. You will engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice to create an environment conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities which provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs. This role will require you to actively participate in planning of the curriculum and the development of programs to address the school’s core expectations.
Yanchep Secondary College is a new secondary school that opened at the start of 2018 in a state of the art facility in Yanchep. In 2019, the school catered for Year 7 to 12 students. The school has a focus on student engagement and technology. This is a key part of the teaching and learning philosophy for the school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
