Appointment Pool
Harmony Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and dedicated Early Childhood Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
Harmony PS places student development as central in all we do; including social, emotional, physical and academic development. Suitable applicants will demonstrate effective organisation, communication and collaboration skills resulting in improved student development. Leadership experience in the Early Years context, with a focus on developing consistent and high quality instruction, is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants with the ability to differentiate effectively in order to manage students with disabilities and challenging behaviours while also developing enrichment and enhancement opportunities for gifted, talented and academically able students is highly regarded.
Harmony PS teachers work hard, show resilience, and have a high level of interpersonal and reflective skills which they share and demonstrate in a range of contexts. Faced with challenges such as reduced availability of resources, our teachers are required to be flexible, solutions focussed and have an ability to adjust to changes. For example, pre-primary teachers have education assistant support until 11am each day.
The school’s Early Childhood Teachers are a motivated team who are committed to a connected practice approach to ensure all students are provided with innovative and engaging learning opportunities. The suitable applicants who possess comprehensive Literacy and Numeracy curriculum knowledge and ability implementing the Western Australian Curriculum in the early years will be highly regarded. Applicants will desirably have high expectations for student achievement, effective data analysis skills and differentiate the curriculum to ensure all students are given every opportunity to experience success in their learning and engage with the National Quality Standards. Harmony PS has a range of whole school practices and staff are expected to support these as they implement their teaching and learning programs.
Staff are expected to plan, share and implement programs incorporating iPads and other digital technologies in order to provide authentic and integrated learning opportunities. The ability to support and mentor others to integrate these into their learning programs is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants who possess an awareness of key documents such as our current Business Plan, Strategic documents and policies, such as the Harmony PS Collaboration Policy will be highly regarded.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
