Appointment Pool
Are you a committed teacher who wants to join a dynamic learning environment?
We are seeking to establish a pool of dynamic education support teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
Cannington Community Education Support Centre (ESC) caters for over 100 secondary aged students from Years 7 to 12. All students have high educational needs and have been offered enrolment at the school via Disability Resourcing. Our motto 'Learning for Life' reflects our belief that learning occurs throughout life and that our students require specialised curriculum to adequately prepare them for life. Our school ethos is Can Do and we are looking for teachers with this attitude. Suitable applicants will ideally have prior experience and knowledge in the education of secondary students with special needs and demonstrate a commitment to differentiated instruction and reflective classroom practice. You will utilise evidence based teaching practices including but not limited to applied behaviour analysis, direct instruction, diagnostic assessment, task analysis and the use of explicit teaching models. Knowledge of AAC and communication resources is highly desirable. We are looking for innovative teachers who embrace 21st century learning practices and utilise new technologies.
Cannington Community ESC utilises person centred planning processes in the development of all documented plans. The suitable applicants will work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver the curriculum and individual student plans. They would have exemplary teaching and classroom management skills, and will be able to develop strong relationships with all students and engage them in effective learning. It is essential that applicants can develop a supportive and positive classroom environment, possess effective interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with all stakeholders.
Our school provides an authentic and functional integrated curriculum. Applicants should demonstrate they are adept in applying curriculum provisions for students with special needs. Programs include the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network’s life skills curriculum (ASDAN), School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) courses including: preliminary and foundation units, Endorsed Programs, Department of Fire and Emergency Service Cadets and Duke of Edinburgh Award. In line with ACARA’s general capabilities our focus is on; literacy, numeracy, information/ communication technology and personal / social capabilities relevant to the student’s individual learning needs.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
