Appointment Pool
Are you committed to making an impact on student learning?
Do you embrace change and engage in self-reflection to improve your practice?
Rockingham Beach Primary School is seeking to establish a pool of innovative and motivated Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Placements can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2020.
We are looking for dynamic, highly-skilled educators committed to maximising their impact on student learning who actively engage in self-reflection. You have high expectations and truly believe that all children can learn at high levels, and pursue excellence in your teaching. We expect applicants to be collaborative and commit to our whole school professional learning community.
Of utmost importance are the personal qualities you bring to the role. You value developing positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the wider community. You have a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change; showing initiative, flexibility and creative problem solving to produce the best opportunities for students.
We are a Visible Learning school and it is expected you will embrace the evidence-based strategies in place across the school. Experience in synthetic phonics, Talk 4 Writing, and a problem solving, hands-on approach to mathematics would be an advantage. You are experienced in explicit teaching strategies and your classroom reflects the importance you place on providing scaffolds for students. Our focus in 2020 is on explicit direct instruction. The learning environment you create is engaging, challenging, and caters for the range of students’ needs which results in every student making at least a year’s progress for a year’s teaching.
Suitable applicants will fully commit to whole school approaches, even if they do not match your preferred approach. We value collaborative planning in year level teams to develop consistent, quality learning programs and engage in rigorous analysis of student data to determine areas for focus. You continually monitor the impact of your teaching and willingly try new, innovative ways to improve student learning. You are proactive and prepared to put in the hard work needed to make a difference. Experience in providing extra-curricular activities to enhance learning opportunities for students is highly desirable.
We are seeking teachers who desire leadership roles and responsibilities beyond their own classroom. You will get both the support and opportunity to develop your leadership skills as a valued member of our team. You are committed to building your professional capacity through continuous learning. You welcome peers and leaders into your classroom as you readily seek and act on feedback provided through observations and walkthroughs. You lead by example, constantly challenging yourself and colleagues. You are willing and prepared to attend after-school meetings for planning and professional learning.
Applicants are encouraged to read our 2017-2019 Business Plan, which can be found on our website or Schools Online, to determine how their skills and knowledge will support our vision and whole school priorities prior to starting their application. Our new Business Plan 2020-2022 is currently under development but will reflect similar priorities.
