Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Science Teachers in the areas of Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Psychology and Integrated Science for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2020. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 school year, and to the end of Term 4, 2020.
The successful applicants will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences to students. You will use self-reflection to assess the effectiveness of your professional practice and be able to establish and maintain a safe and effective learning environment. You will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and expertise in the context of the science curriculum and pedagogy.
At Willetton SHS, the Science Learning Area provides classes for Year 7 to 10 Gifted and Talented students as part of the Department of Education Gifted and Talented (Selective Academic Program). These students are integrated in senior school. The Year 11 and 12 courses delivered at ATAR level are: Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Psychology and Integrated Science at general level. The school is highly regarded locally, nationally and internationally and the demand for enrolment is strong. As a result, there is a demand for both support and rigour in the delivery of the curriculum. Teachers with the ability to differentiate their curriculum delivery to remediate areas of difficulty will be highly regarded.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Psychology and Integrated Science). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered in the first instance for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
