This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, part-time (0.8FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2020

The successful applicant will ideally possess an in-depth understanding of the current Western Australian Media Arts curriculum, including senior school, and provide students with purposeful learning experiences to develop their understanding and appreciation of Media Arts.
You will require flexibility to teach Year 7-12 Media classes including Senior School Media Studies or Certificate II in Creative industries – Media with scope for delivery of Certificate III in Screen and Media. It is therefore highly desirable that the successful applicant possess the current TAE 40116 Certificate IV Training and Assessment or its equivalent.
The position requires a creative, forward-thinking teacher who will continue to grow the high-profile of the East Kimberley College media department both within the school and the wider community through showcasing student abilities and work via events such as at the Open-Air Picture Gardens, Kimberley Moon Festival, whole school celebrations. This position is 0.8FTE, however there is scope for ongoing additional internal relief opportunities available.
East Kimberley College is a K - 12 school with approximately 600 students in Kindergarten to Year Six and 350 secondary students in Years 7 to 12. About 50% of our students are indigenous.
The school is located on a large, well maintained and attractive site in the centre of Kununurra. In 2013 a $50 million building program was completed which resulted in extensive new classrooms and resources becoming available across both the primary and secondary areas. This now means that students have access to the most modern of facilities to support their learning, despite being a large distance from a major centre.
The school draws from a diverse town population of around 6000, representing Aboriginal communities, agricultural, horticultural, mining and related service industries. An extensive range of State and Commonwealth agencies is represented in Kununurra and they work closely with us to ensure the best support is available for our students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
