Cloverdale Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of qualified Education Support teachers for appointments to permanent full-time, permanent part-time and full time fixed term and part time fixed term vacancies that may arise during the 2020 school year. Placements can be made from the pool at any time for commencement within the 2020 school year.
Cloverdale ESC is an inclusive school co-located with Cloverdale Primary School. Our policy is to encourage the fullest cooperation between teachers, students and families in the process of learning.
We require high-quality teachers who are enthusiastic and dedicated to teaching students with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairment, and challenging behaviours. It is desirable that teachers are able to work with a range of student cohorts including homogenous ability groups and cross-set multi-age groups. The ability to work effectively with classroom support staff and external agency service providers is essential.
Suitable applicants will be conversant with a range of curricula and assessment tools, including the Western Australian Curriculum and Abilities Based Learning Education Western Australia (ABLEWA), The Early Years Learning Framework, and the Special Education Needs Assessment Tool (SENAT). Teachers who are familiar with teaching digital technologies and protective behaviours are encouraged to apply.
Successful applicants will ideally demonstrate experience in implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) strategies, Direct Instruction programmes, TEACCH and the Balanced Literacy Model. They will have deep understanding of communication pedagogy including the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems and Aided Language Stimulation practices. Knowledge of iPad communication applications such as Proloquo2go and LAMP, as well as knowledge of the application of digital literacy within education support, is highly desirable.
Teachers will be expected to plan, implement, monitor and report on student progress at an individual level, while incorporating school-based initiatives including literacy Mathematics and communication. Experience with the Reporting to Parents SEN is also highly desirable. Teachers are expected to undertake leadership roles across the school in accordance with the School Plan, and to actively participate in curriculum and pedagogy focus teams.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
