The Leadership Institute is seeking an innovative and highly organised person to join our digital team as Consultant – Online.
The Leadership Institute supports the Department of Education’s strategic objectives and provides high-quality, innovative and evidence-based professional learning programs for school leaders at all stages of their career.
As Consultant – Online, you will facilitate the development, delivery and promotion of the Institute’s online professional learning programs and work closely with Institute program coordinators to ensure content of professional learning programs is appropriate for the online environment. You will undertake quality assurance in monitoring, reviewing and evaluating professional learning programs to identify and implement improvements and changes as required.
The successful applicant will undertake the operational coordination of program delivery and provide guidance across all regions to ensure consistent implementation. You will identify emerging opportunities and future innovations in professional development in an online context and engage in offsite recording, interviewing, editing and production of media clips for online resources.
The successful applicant will research and establish strategies and operating procedures to support the development of professional learning. You will work with key stakeholders within the Department and other sector agencies to influence and develop quality professional learning programs along with establishing and maintaining highly effective communication networks, with both internal and external stakeholders, to promote and ensure relevance of program development.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you need to demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technologies for the development and delivery of online learning and projects in an adult learning educational context together with relevant knowledge of alternative and innovative learning methods.
- Skills and experience in the planning, designing, implementation and delivery of effective professional learning programs in a face to face and online context.
- Highly developed research, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to generate strategies which address issues, solve complex problems and inform decision making.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Skills and experience in project management and successful implementation of digital and audio visual resources into online professional learning initiatives.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
