The Public Schools Planning Directorate is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Administration and Research Officer to the School Planning Branch.
The Administration and Research Officer provides administrative and research support to the Branch in the development of strategies, policies and initiatives that underpin statewide schooling provision, planning and implementation.
The successful applicant will liase with internal and external clients and customers to obtain a range of data and information related to, and impacting on, schooling provision planning. You will undertake research, investigations, statistical and demographic data analysis, and the preparation and presentation of data which contribute to projects and reports.
The Administration and Research Officer develops and maintains databases and information systems which support branch projects, planning and initiatives. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of information in Branch databases in accordance with legislative and Departmental requirements and review the information for quality assurance and currency.
The Public Schools Planning Directorate. is responsible for planning the future delivery of public schooling throughout the State, including design, location and delivery. The Directorate oversees the operations of Residential Colleges and manages international education. The Schooling Planning Branch has responsibility for ensuring that configuration of delivery of schooling throughout the State best meets the educational needs of the students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and statistical data research skills and ability to identify appropriate solutions.
- Well-developed skills in relevant computer applications and programs, including spreadsheets, databases and mapping tools.
- Initiative and sound organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and identify priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
