Appointment Pool
Grandis Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of teachers Kindergarten to Year 6 including specialist positions for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencement within the 2020 school year.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to be highly motivated, energetic, team-focussed and student-centred people with qualities that promote, build and maintain professional relationships. You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.
Suitable applicants must be able to demonstrate that they use exemplary student-centred and evidence-based teaching practices that result in high levels of achievement and progress for all students. Teachers that can differentiate the curriculum through ‘best practice’ lesson design and innovative and flexible program delivery will be considered advantageous.
Ideally, you will be self-reflective and committed to your own professional growth, using opportunities to gather, analyse and assess system, whole-of-school and classroom-based student achievement data in order make evidence-based decisions about you own teaching practice, as well as the practice of collaborative teams, with a relentless focus on improving outcomes for all students.
The utilisation of peer and classroom observations and feedback to support professional development will form an important aspect of this role, as will the capacity to work as an active and effective member of a collaborative team, by sharing experiences and resources, responding to feedback and demonstrating an ongoing commitment to professional development. Teachers will be expected to engage regularly in honest, rigorous professional conversations about how to develop and improve practice with a constant focus on optimising student success.
In addition, suitable applicants will understand that social-emotional skills and positive student behaviour need to be explicitly modelled and taught on a daily basis. They will fully support and implement whole-of-school behaviour management strategies within their classrooms. Applicants who desire to teach in the early years (Kindergarten to Year 2) will support an approach to purposeful play-based learning that seeks to achieve specific outcomes for individual students through careful planning, deliberate and explicit learning goals and intentional teaching. You will show a strong knowledge and commitment to the outcomes of the West Australian (WA) Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework with the National Quality Standards embedded in the learning environment.
Teachers who have additional expertise in key school approaches will be viewed favourably. These approaches include Classroom Management Strategies (CMS), co-operative learning, Letters and Sounds (Kindergarten to Year 2), Word Their Way (Year 3 to Year 6), Talk 4 Writing (Kindergarten to Year 2), Seven Steps to Writing (Year 3 to Year 6) and First Steps Mathematics.
Teachers specialising in Music, Visual Arts and Physical Education are also strongly encouraged to apply.
It is preferable, for all suitable applicants, including specialists, to be confident users of digital technologies and be able to integrate them across the curriculum as part of their teaching and learning programs. The effective use of interactive whiteboards as well as iPads and laptops will be an important requirement of this role. Suitable applicants will be required to incorporate an innovative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum into their teaching and learning programs.
Grandis PS is an Independent Public School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Situated on Grandis Boulevard in Banksia Grove, the school is being built in two stages. In 2019 the school will cater for students in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary and will extend to include students from Year 1 to 6 in 2020. When completed, the school will include five teaching blocks, an administration area, undercover area, library, dental therapy centre, playgrounds as well as multi-purpose courts and an oval.
Interested applicants are encouraged to attend an information session held at Joseph Banks Secondary College on Monday, 26 August commencing at 5.00pm.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
