Cassia Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and dedicated Manager Corporate Services for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 and 2020 school years. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements up to the end of Term 4, 2020.
The Manager Corporate Services manages the school’s financial, physical and human resources and supervises all school support staff and administers and reports on the financial integrity of the school's business operations, and provides input into financial planning and budgeting as well as the administration and reporting of the diverse funding entities for which the school is responsible.
The successful applicants, in collaboration with the Principal and/or the Executive Management Team, will provide operational input to the development of school Business and Marketing Plans and monitors the school’s financial performance against the plans. The successful applicants contribute to the school meeting corporate financial objectives and Regional and Corporate reporting requirements.
Cassia ESC is a government school for children who have been identified as having an intellectual disability. We share a campus with Cassia Primary School. The school lies within the Pilbara Education Region. Our student population ranges in age from Kindergarten to Year 6. The Centre attracts the services of a School Psychologist and the Allied Health services of a School Nurse and related therapy staff that provide physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy programs. The purpose of Cassia ESC is to promote the abilities of each student and develop their confidence, knowledge, skills and leadership qualities to equip them with competencies for a world beyond school.
At the Centre, the Teachers write Individual Education Plans for each student and teaching and learning is tailored to that student’s learning needs. These plans are a working document and are continuously updated. Goals are set to address the domains of: reading, writing, mathematics, social and emotional skills, physical needs, health, and/or communication skills depending on the needs of the student. Each student is encouraged to work at his or her own pace. Multi-aged groups and cross-settings are key features at the Centre. In addition, we are conscious of the fact that not all children come to school with the same foundations for learning. We are committed to learning programs that are culturally appropriate, inclusive and supportive.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to use effective negotiation skills.
- Sound financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- Sound human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and systems.
- Leadership skills in the delivery of business outcomes and sound customer service principles and practices.
- Ability to provide input into the development, implementation and monitoring of business and marketing plans.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
