Hammond Park Secondary College (SC) is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader for our Wellbeing and Enrichment Coordinator role. This is a unique role and will require a leader with a breadth of experience and agility to work across a range of areas. The Wellbeing and Enrichment Coordinator role will lead the implementation of the school’s Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEW) program and address enrichment of students who require learning adjustments through to those who require extension and challenge.
Hammond Park Secondary College is creating a Social and Emotional Wellbeing program informed by the PERMA principles and will deliver a curriculum in our Homeroom classes. The role will require the development and refinement of this SEW curriculum in collaboration with our external stakeholders. The Coordinator will also ensure our school policy and procedures embed the PERMA principles and the PERMA model becomes our way of being ensuring student wellbeing is at the forefront of the work we do at Hammond Park Secondary College.
In addition to wellbeing, the role will require the Coordinator to collaborate with key personnel across the school to develop a Response to Intervention model for students who need learning adjustments. This will include the development of IEPs and IBPs as required. To enrich academically able students, the Coordinator will collaborate with the teachers of the academic program to develop the school’s cross-curricular inquiry model of instruction. Hammond Park Secondary College will implement an Instructional Framework based on HITS principles so a knowledge of this will be an advantage.
The Wellbeing and Enrichment Coordinator role will require a leader who displays initiative and creativity and seeks opportunities for students and resourcefulness in securing partnerships for the school to ensure a diverse range of learning opportunities exist for our students.
The Wellbeing and Enrichment Coordinator will be a responsive leader who can adapt to the changing needs and growth of the college as the school grows to its full capacity in 2025. The position requires someone with excellent vision and knowledge in data analysis and research informed practice. There may be a need for this position to have a teaching load however this will be discussed with the successful applicant and depend on the business needs of the College.
About us
Hammond Park SC is as an Independent Public School and is one of eight WA Public Private Partnership schools. The school is built, financed and maintained by project company EduWest. While the partnership is a very different way of delivering education facilities in the State, the students’ education remains the responsibility of the Department of Education, and the Principal, teachers and staff are employed by the Department of Education as they are in all public schools.
Hammond Park SC in Hammond Park will open for the start of the 2020 school year as a local intake secondary school. Initially the school will accommodate up to 200 Year 7 students in 2020 and grow to accommodate a total of 1450 Year 7 to 12 students by 2025.
The college will offer a broad range of programs to meet the diverse needs of all students including academic extension programs, learning support, STEM, sport and the Arts, to ensure the needs of all students are considered. A partnership founded on strong relationships between students, staff, parents and the community will be the enduring platform upon which the school is built.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
