This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly effective and motivated person to join our foundation team at Alkimos College as a Business Support Officer. This position provides a unique opportunity to assist the Manager Corporate Services in supporting the college’s financial management of the business operations and systems, to maximise both educational and administrative outcomes within the Department of Education regulatory framework.
The role of the Business Support Officer will require you to:
- assist the Manager Corporate Services in the administrative, financial, marketing, corporate sponsorship, physical and human resources aspects of the college's operations;
- assist in the preparation and monitoring of the college budget and develop and maintain business and information management systems;
- support the Manager Corporate Services in undertaking financial planning, monitoring, research, reporting and analysis to meet established objectives and outcomes, relative to business needs and plans;
- contribute to the college’s Annual Report and assist in the production of the document;
- assist the Manager Corporate Services in human resource management activities, including planning and system management
- assist in the maintenance and replacement of the college’s physical assets;
- provide operational support in the development, implementation and management of marketing strategies and plans;
- assist with the development and maintenance of effective networks with stakeholders to promote the school;
- in collaboration with the Manager Corporate Services, undertake proactive investigation and identification of funding support from local, state, and national sponsorship opportunities;
- support the preparation of funding submissions and assist in the evaluation of tenders and contracts.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, flexible, reliable and have a sense of humour! He/she will be required to provide timely, ‘hands-on' customer service support in all areas of administration, as needed. Experience in systems such as RM Finance, Asset Manager, RM Billing and Administration Manager (or similar platforms) is highly desirable.
About Us
Alkimos College will open for the start of the 2020 school year as a local intake secondary school. Initially the school will accommodate up to 250 Year 7 students in 2020 and grow to accommodate a total of 2000+ Year 7 to 12 students by 2025.

There will also be an academic extension pathway and a whole school approach to Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths (STEM) to provide ‘hands-on’ and ‘minds-on’ lessons for students.
A coaching paradigm will underpin all aspects of self-assessment, planning and review, performance development, classroom observation and feedback and be used with students as part of the well-being program.
A partnership founded on strong relationships between students, staff, parents and the community will be the enduring platform upon which the school is built.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
- well-developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
- sound human resource management knowledge and skills, including the ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
- sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and ability to use relevant software applications.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
