This is a permanent full-time position commencing at the end of Term 4, 2019.
Mount Lawley Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a motivated, conscientious and highly organised person to serve as the Manager Corporate Services. The successful applicant is required to liaise and work with the principal, members of the school’s executive, staff and cost centre managers.
The ability to form positive working relationships is essential. You will work with a team of staff that provide professional support to the Manager Corporate Services.
This position is responsible for providing professional leadership and management of school support staff to enhance their effectiveness. In accordance with the School Business Plan, the Manager Corporate Services assists the principal to ensure the most effective use of resources in support of the school’s learning program.
Mount Lawley SHS is a complex school with approximately 1800 students and almost 200 staff. In 2020 the School will move from two sub-schools to three which requires the successful applicant to demonstrate a high level of problem-solving and effective change management strategies.
As an Independent Public School, the Manager Corporate Services must have a demonstrated understanding of the one line budget process and an appreciation of how to manage school budgets and cost centres. Key functions that the Manager Corporate Services is accountable for include management of support staff, procurement, financial operations, human resource management, asset management and liaison with external stakeholders. The ability to provide high quality advice to the principal and if required to the School Board will be required.
The Manager Corporate Services will also be a member of the Finance Committee and supports its operations. Team development skills are also critical in the effective management of the school’s support staff. Their development is vital as they play a key role in the delivery of teaching and learning. This means the successful applicant should have a clear understanding of school policies and procedures and how these are enacted.
Founded in 1955 and rebuilt in 2004, Mount Lawley SHS is located within a residential suburb 5 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. It hosts one of two Gifted and Talented Languages programs in the state and a Specialist Arts program and a Jazz Music Program.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for 6 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- High-level human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and processes.
- High-level financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- High-level written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Experience in the application of high-level customer service principles and practices.
- Experience in effective leadership of a team.
- Ability to provide high-level human resource consultancy and financial advice in the development, implementation and management of business and marketing plans.
- Well-developed problem solving and risk management skills, including the ability to provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
