John Curtin College of the Arts is seeking to establish a pool of Program Coordinators – Student Services for appointment to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year and up until the end of Term 3, 2020. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2020.
Currently, there is one (1) permanent, full-time vacancy available commencing in Term 4, 2019.
John Curtin of the Arts have an exciting opportunity for a successful school leader who demonstrates the vision, experience, professional knowledge and skills required to lead, manage and build capacity in a large team of teaching and non-teaching staff who comprise the Student Services team.
As Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for effectively managing the administrative and operational systems of Student Services, in accordance with Departmental policy and guidelines. You will be responsible for reflecting on and revising systems to support student behaviour management, attendance, and health and well-being. To be successful for this role, you will have considerable knowledge of policies and processes of student welfare and school operations; including timetabling, reporting to parents, Connect, SIS and SEQTA.
A key responsibility of this role will be the development and delivery of programs to support the college’s priorities and create a positive and inclusive college culture. Student welfare and academic achievement are embedded in all aspects of the college life thereby building a culture of high care and high performance. Demonstrated effective organisational and planning skills will enable you to plan and oversee the day to day operations of Student Services as well as for whole college events.
Additionally, you will have a thorough understanding of the case management of educationally at risk students, and students with special needs, including knowledge of effective intervention, monitoring and reporting strategies. You will require highly developed understandings of Gifted and Talented students, in particular in the area of social and emotional development, underachievement/underperformance and twice exceptionality.
In this key leadership position, the successful applicant will model and promote the college’s vision and values while demonstrating outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You will have an ability to build strong college and community links with parents and external agencies and to work collaboratively as part of the Student Services team. Coupled with this, you will have the demonstrated ability to build and maintain an excellent rapport and relationship with students.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
