Banksia Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a Gardener – Handyperson to maintain extensive garden and bushland areas.
The successful applicant will have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy working to provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining and presenting our school grounds in a clean and tidy welcoming condition. We are looking for a team player to work collaboratively with all staff as part of a whole school community. As part of the role you will be required to carry out minor repairs and maintenance as request as well as other Gardener – Handyperson duties in accordance with the Departments policies and guidelines.
Banksia Park Primary School is situated in the picturesque suburb of Leeming. Students are housed in attractive classrooms with extensive bushland surrounds. School facilities are of a high standard including a library with computer laboratory, art room, music room, canteen, tennis courts, cricket nets, grassed oval and an enclosed covered assembly area with a Performing Arts Centre.
As the catchment area for Banksia Park Primary School is compact and completely built out enrolment figures remain fairly stable.
Over the years a real community spirit has evolved with parents/caregivers and staff working together to provide the best possible facilities and educational programmes for the students at the school. Students are well behaved and motivated to learn, parents are extremely supportive and the experienced teaching staff is committed and enthusiastic.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a ten (10) day breach period to this selection process
